As a new missionary my first year will involve plenty of language learning, but I plan on engaging with the community through English programs, drama evangelism, and equipping the local believers in developing ways to share their faith. During my MDiv studies I developed a redemptive analogy for the Japanese, found in my book Shinto: the Gospel's Gate. I am excited for the opportunity to put that research into action in Japan and develop ways to share the Gospel through the Scapegoat Analogy and learn how to equip Christians to use the same method. Missionary Sukanya Saetung DONATE Hello, my name is Sukanya Saetung (Mint). I am a single mother serving full-time with Rak Teh Ministry, a project under YWAM in Bangkok, Thailand. I was born in Isaan, the northeastern region of Thailand, and grew up in a poor and uneducated family. At the age of 15, I became pregnant, and by 19, I was a single mother. Overwhelmed by the heavy responsibility of providing for my family and having little education, I made the painful decision to work in prostitution in Bangkok. It was never the life I wanted, and it left deep scars on my heart and body. Yet out of love and duty toward my family, I endured it. In 2012, my life changed forever. I heard about Jesus, chose to believe in Him, and decided to leave sex work behind. The journey was not easy. During my first year, I struggled with addiction to drugs and alcohol, unhealthy relationships, and deep shame. But God’s grace was greater than my struggles. Through the faithful prayers, encouragement, and love of my Christian community, I found strength to persevere. God’s Word began healing my wounds and restoring my identity. I discovered my true worth in His eyes. As I met women still trapped in prostitution, my heart broke. Their stories reflected my own painful past before I knew Jesus. In that moment, I sensed a clear calling from God. He filled my heart with compassion and gratitude for His saving grace-the grace that lifted me out of darkness. I knew I could not remain silent. I wanted to proclaim the same love, hope, and freedom that Jesus had given me. Since then, I have dedicated my life to reaching out to women working in the red-light areas of Bangkok. Each week, I go into the Phra Nakhon area, especially the Trok Sake community in Bangkok, to build relationships with women working in the sex trade. Our heart is to invite them into a safe and loving community at the Rak Teh Ministry Center. Every Monday, we gather for a storytelling Bible study, sharing a meal, praying, and encouraging one another. Every Friday, we open our home as a place of rest-offering food, coffee, English lessons, games, nail care, counseling, and support. We also assist women who are sick, living with HIV, or in vulnerable situations by helping them access medical care, accompanying them to the hospital, teaching them how to take medication properly, and providing basic health education. For women who desire to leave sex work, we connect them with vocational training and job opportunities for a new beginning. On Tuesdays, we go out for street outreach, meeting women and the homeless where they are. We offer free manicures, haircuts, second-hand clothing, and hygiene supplies, while sharing the Good News of Jesus and praying with those who desire prayer. Every Thursday, I volunteer with Samaritan Creations, reaching out in the red-light bars of Bangkok, building relationships, introducing women to job opportunities, and serving as a mentor and Bible teacher in the program. Our ministry follows the example of Jesus in Luke 5:29–32, where He chose to sit and eat with those rejected by society. We believe authentic love restores dignity, renews hope, and transforms lives. After almost a decade in Dallas, TX, I have officially moved to Huntington Beach, CA to come on as a full-time staff leader with The Black Voices Movement. From 2016 to 2021, I found myself trying to process the racial inequities in America in light of the Gospel. I worked for 2.5 years at a non-profit that served the inner cities in Dallas, and in March of 2021, I felt led to pull back and pursue other spaces of ministry and art. During that time, I waited with the Lord asking him what specifically, he was leading me into. In April of 2021, I attended the first Black Voices gathering and knew God was answering my prayers. The Black Voices Movement is a ministry of Circuit Riders/Youth with a Mission that empowers young black leaders in their Christ-centered calling. God led our team to develop targeted gospel leadership training for young black leaders across the US. In just one year of coming together, we've seen over 2,000 come from every corner of America to be activated in Gospel leadership. Young people are getting saved, set free, and discipled as leaders in the kingdom. I’m in Kona, Hawaii where I’m being trained to be sent out to the Himalayas to serve as a full time missionary. I began my discipleship training school in the Himalayas in Fall 2019, and after completing the school, I felt the Lord inviting me back to that region to serve full time. I am a full-time missionary with Circuit Riders – Black Voices Movement and grassroots movement of black pioneers focused on gathering and empowering leaders of color into their Christ-centered calling, expression, and purpose. The heart of the Circuit Riders and Black Voices alike is to save the lost, revive the saved and train them all. We want to inspire a generation to love like Jesus! Since I started working with Circuit Riders back in 2018, I have learned so many different ways to express myself and as a creative. One of my biggest struggles was wanting to pursue a singer/songwriter but not wanting to lead worship. I thought I was a sellout, that my Christianity was somehow thrown away if I didn’t sing for a congregation. I believe a lot of people deal with this same thought, especially those called to be a bridge between the church and the world. I want to encourage creatives with the same words spoken over me “all I’m asking you to do is lead a life of worship.” This is so important especially amongst minorities – showing them that laying down your life doesn’t always look like giving up your gifting -I want to see painters and potters be fully unleashed, beat makers and producers living in the freedom found in Christ, rappers and preaches alike. I want to show creatives that there’s room for them to reflect the heart of God in ways we don’t even know yet. To make this a reality I will be assisting in the planning of routes and events for our 2021- 2022 Black Voices Tour that will gather believers, nonbelievers, and creatives alike. I will also be working with our media team to create physical and digital media for our campaigns, all while participating in our bible training course called Field Training, and stewarding and developing my skills in painting, singing, writing, modeling, shooting film, etc. My dream was and still is to be a part of creating an atmosphere when kids, teens, and young adults like me can find themselves by getting lost in creating with the creator and I believe this (black voices movement) is the start of that dream fulfilled, and I hope you join me on the journey. Missionary Tiago & Mia Baia DONATE Meet the Baias Hi! We’re Tiago and Mia Baia. We got married in the summer of 2025, and our shared passion is simple: to see God’s Kingdom advanced in every area of life—whether in missions, music, women’s ministry, or the workplace. Mia serves full-time with YWAM Harpenden, where she works behind the scenes in the ministries that keep the base running. She’s also part of Brave Love, a movement that equips women to understand their biblical identity, dive deep into the Word, and be sent out to bring the love of Jesus into their homes, schools, workplaces, and the nations. She also leads worship and co-writes worship songs with Tiago, with a heart to see worship and missions woven together. Mia first felt called to missions at 19 and has since lived in several places, serving in ministries that reach women, children, worship, and even coffee shops. Tiago was called into missions at 18 and served full-time with YWAM Harpenden for several years before stepping back to work and provide for our family. He’s a skilled barista who sees his workplace as his current mission field—bringing Jesus into everyday encounters. Tiago continues to serve in worship at both our local church and the YWAM base, and dreams of returning to full-time missions in the future, particularly in the areas of music and media. Together, we carry a vision to combine the arts and missions—writing music that points people to Jesus, discipling creatives, and equipping the next generation of believers to live boldly for the gospel. Missionary Chris Rodriguez DONATE Will you join me in transforming the nations? Hi! My name is Chris. Over the past few years, God has been transforming my life through missions. What started as a step of faith to know Him more slowly became a clear calling: to dedicate my life to reaching and discipling the nations. A few years ago I had the opportunity to travel to Norway to do my Discipleship Training School (DTS) with YWAM. During that time God spoke deeply to my heart and showed me something I wasn’t expecting: He was calling me to return to this nation. Later, during my outreach phase, I had the opportunity to travel to Malawi in southeast Africa . In that season I saw how God was moving among different cultures and communities, and each day He continued confirming that my life would be devoted to missions. But something that especially marked my heart was seeing the spiritual reality of many young people in Europe. Many are growing up in a culture where God seems distant, where identity is searched for in many places, and yet there is still a deep hunger for purpose, truth, and hope. In the middle of this, God began speaking to me about investing my life in this generation —walking alongside young people, discipling them, helping them discover their identity in God, and training them to be sent out to the nations. Today I have the privilege of continuing this calling by serving with YWAM Kristiansand in Norway . In this new season I will be involved in discipleship, mission training, and outreach trips, walking with young people who are beginning their own journey with God and seeing how He raises them up to impact different parts of the world. It’s amazing to think that when a young person discovers who they are in God, their life can become a light that impacts many others. Missionary Gemma Howard DONATE Hi! My name is Gemma, and I am the single mother to my beautiful daughter Josephine. 2021 was the hardest and most beautiful year of my life. I found out I was pregnant at 17 while trying to get out of an unhealthy relationship. My pro-life values were tested. It took all my courage to face this huge reality and change in my life. But the challenge didn’t stop there. A few months later, I lost the father to suicide and had to navigate this added, horrific situation, accompanied by guilt, shame, and regret. Thankfully, giving birth to my baby girl was such an amazing gift. Having Josephine was the biggest blessing in my life, but it has also been the hardest adventure I have ever had to undertake. Becoming a single teen mom has been scary, parenting alone is exhausting, and navigating the realities of choosing life is not easy. These challenges have brought me to my knees and into a deep encounter with God's mercy. My beliefs have been tested, my relationship with Jesus has been tested, but through it all, Jesus was and continues to be victorious. I have been radically transformed; my faith is stronger than ever! Having touched such intense pain and been carried through, I am now confident in God's plan for me, and I daily seek to surrender everything to Him. I know that He is a good Father and will carry Jo and me through whatever rough waters still lie ahead. Josephine is almost four years old now. Since working with survivors of sex trafficking in Colorado, Jo and I have been on quite a journey. At the beginning of this year, We moved to Ohio, following the Lord’s promptings without knowing exactly what was in store. All I knew was that He was inviting me into a deeper relationship with Him, and let me tell you—He has been so faithful. My love for the Lord has grown in ways I never thought possible, and His provision has been constant, even when the path has been uncertain. Living in Ohio has been such a blessing. I’ve spent much of my time in prayer, drawing near to the Holy Spirit, and striving to remain open to His lead. I’ve been working as a nanny, which has been a beautiful opportunity to stay close to Josephine while providing for our needs. Parenting Jo is truly a dance—she pulls every ounce of energy, fire, and love out of me, often in the same breath. Watching her grow and explore her little world fills my heart in ways I never imagined and keeps me focused and hopeful as I work on becoming more patient and consistent. I have also been blessed with some incredible friendships, people who bring me so much joy and encouragement in my pursuit of holiness, and I am deeply grateful for them. As I look ahead, I don’t know exactly where the Lord is calling me next, but I have so many dreams on my heart. I long to play the cello, to continue pursuing piloting, and one day (hopefully soon) have a home and a family. These dreams feel so big and far away at times, but I trust that God has placed them in my heart for a reason. Right now, my focus is on taking each step as He leads, knowing that in His perfect timing, all things will come together. I still work with AromaRosary ( aromarosary.com ) to provide support for pro-life ministries and to spread my love of the rosary with others. MISSIONARY Claire Nunez DONATE Hi! My name is Claire. I am a missionary with a passion for worship, art, and helping people realize their true identity in Jesus. I am a nerd, artist, musician, extrovert, and tea lover, with a love for Japan, and of course for Jesus. I love being able to use the creativity God gave me to give Him glory and to bless others. God called me to do a discipleship training school with YWAM in Tokyo, Japan, back in June of 2016, and as soon as I set foot in Japan, I knew in my heart I was going to come back someday. My DTS was hands down the best five months of my life; I was captivated by God’s love, learned and grew so much, and fell even more in love with Japan. After coming home for several months, I did a school of worship in Kona, Hawaii with University of the Nations, and during that school I finally felt like God was giving me the OK to apply as staff with YWAM Tokyo. On Valentine’s day of 2018, I got the news that I’d been accepted as staff. And so begins the journey back to Japan! I am looking forward to joining my YWAM Tokyo family once again and being able to share Jesus’ love in Japan. I’ll be going back for about three years.
