MISSIONARY Zion Himeno DONATE I am the only Japanese national who is studying at New Hope Christian College. The Christian population in my home country, Japan, is 1%, and it is said that the church-going Christians are less than 0.2 %. Although I grew up as a non-Christian in such a country until I was 11, I got baptized with my mother and started to live my life as a Christian. In junior high school, I began to think that “I want to change Japan!” and I wanted to do that by becoming a prime minister. However, God’s plan was different. God called me to be a pastor to raise disciples of Christ. Even after 2,000 years, the gospel continues to spread all over the world. This is because Christ raised disciples!! In the same way, He commands us to “make disciples!” Why is the Japanese Christian population still 1% even though Christianity has spread all over the world!? I consider the big reason of this is due to Japanese being focused on Japanese culture and national character such as being an ‘Education-conscious society’, ‘scientism’, ‘feudalism’, and ‘economic supremacy’. As a result, there are not enough disciples and leaders who can raise disciples. Then, what is a disciple? “Disciples are those who deny themselves, and take up their cross daily, and follow Jesus Christ (see. Luke 9:23)” This is what disciples of Christ are, and it is my “calling” to raise such disciples!! In order to accomplish my calling, “to raise the disciples of Christ,” I need to first become a faithful disciple of Christ and learn to become a leader. I believe that is why God led me to NHCC. Pastor Wayne, our principal and founder of New Hope in Hawaii, helped plant over 124 churches around the world, and churches in Hawaii, California, Washington, and Nevada in the US. In addition, he has been raising many disciples and leaders. Moreover, the purpose of NHCC is “to produce exemplary disciples who can lead with Biblical character.” It has been 4 months since I entered NHCC, but I have already learned the importance of choosing to walk with God no matter what happens to my life or how much mistakes I make. And I have received abundant blessings and grace from God in such a short period of time. However, I still have a lot more to learn here to become an exemplary disciple who can lead people. I have been praying for the finances for me to continue learning at NHCC. Thankfully, I have received $6,250 of financial aid from 5 different scholarships for my 2019 spring semester! I still need $4,442.50 for tuition, fees, and living expenses by May, and part of it, $1,500, is required by February 11th. It is very challenging, yet I will keep praying and believing that God will open the door if it is His will!! Please pray for me that God will grant my wish and answer my prayer! Missionary Julia Shatswell DONATE Hi! My name is Julia Shatswell and I am a full time missionary with YWAM (Youth With A Mission) in Kona, Hawaii! I have decided that if ever there is a good time to devote time to ministry, now is the time in my life to take a break from my traditional school path to devote my 20’s to Jesus! (and the rest of my life of course!) I graduated from High School in 2020 and choose to stay home instead of immediately pursuing my university studies during a time when everyone else was doing remote learning in their dorms. This was a pivotal time because God was able to get ahold of my heart and I learned that my hopes and dreams are not based on anything I can do in my strength alone. My plans included getting a degree in Graphic Design from a school close to home and take baby steps in my faith walk. I never dreamed that the Lord would light a fire of surrender and give me a passion and desire to travel to the nations and share the Good News that Jesus brings!! The difference in who I was 3 years ago and who I am today is huge. God has given me a passion to be on the frontlines of my generation and in places and spaces that will allow me to speak to people of all ages in any country in the world. I did my Discipleship Training School (DTS) in Fall 2022 and went with a team of 14 to do an outreach in the Philippines. It was here that God marked me for this generation. Gen Z may look like a lost generation, but they are desperate for Truth and anything that is Real. I believe that Gen Z is going to be a generation rooted in Christ and they will run to the ends of the earth with the Gospel, and I want to be a part of it. My heart is especially moved toward the young women of my generation and how God has created each and every one of us uniquely beautiful. I want to speak love, life, and our true identity in Christ over everyone I come across. That is why I am excited for this next season where I will be doing leadership track, staffing, and leading a team to the nations. This consists of me being trained to be the best that I can be, then mentoring a group of up to 9 girls. Then I will co-lead a team of young adults to wherever God calls me. This is at least a 9-month journey and I need your help. MISSIONARY Zachary Kok DONATE Hello! My name is Zach Kok, and I'm a full-time staff member at YWAM (Youth with a Mission) Tokyo! Growing up, I always had a love for Jesus, people, and Japanese pop culture (anime, manga, etc.). My interest in the Japanese culture along with a clear calling from God while serving at a Christian camp, I decided to take a gap year after high school in 2015. On somewhat of a whim, I decided to participate in DTS (Discipleship Training School) at YWAM Tokyo. God used this time to develop in me a deeper love and admiration for Japan as a whole. I knew then that this heart for Japan was a sign that God wanted me there for long term missions. While attending the University of Wisconsin, Madison, I returned to Tokyo to study abroad my junior year. My love and commitment for the Japanese community at large grew even more. In 2020, I graduated with a double major in Japanese language and Asian Languages and Culture. My organization, YWAM Tokyo, fully embodies the mission of "knowing God and making Him known" in the context of Japanese culture. For the past few years, I have heavily focused on relational ministry, and formed many deep and meaningful connections with people both in Japan, and others from around the world! From the arcades to the Buddhist temples, God has brought me to all sorts of places to form meaningful bonds with those who need to hear His word. I am currently leading both a prayer time and Bible reading time with multiple individuals! I truly believe that the way God will redeem this nation is through genuine and intentional connections with believers. I have been in worship ministry for over 10 years and have seen the Lord encounter so many in the various places I’ve been! The Greek word “Koinonia” is the word used at the end of the Letters to the Corinthian church translated to the word “communion.” This word means, “partnership, fellowship, and intimacy.” Paul uses this word as the kind of relationship we are to have with the Holy Spirit! This is what’s I believe the church worldwide NEEDS to have more of; in worship, in word, in daily living! Missionary Robin Deatherage DONATE My name is Robin Deatherage. I was able to do my Discipleship Training School with YWAM in 2025 in Wollongong, Australia. While I was there, the Lord put a heavy burden on my heart for the unreached peoples of the world and specifically the Australian Aboriginals who did not know God. YWAM Broome is a missionary base in Western Australia that does full time Kingdom mission outreach to the Aboriginals in the Kimberly region. Our focus is to create relationship and connection with the people in these communities, and to discover where their burdens weigh heavy. We partner with local community initiatives and share the gospel through service and relationship. We desire for the Australian Aboriginal people to understand and accept the value they have in God's sight and the place they have in His Kingdom. I believe in what the Lord is doing in the Nation of Australia and I believe that He is drawing the hearts of these people to Himself. MISSIONARY Ahna Cameron DONATE Hi! My name is Ahna Cameron. I am currently working at a pro-life nonprofit called Save the Storks as a Social Media Assistant and Event’s Assistant. As much as I love fighting for and celebrating life and have enjoyed my time at Save the Storks, I have always been extremely interested in and drawn to the medical world. I got my foot in the door by receiving my phlebotomy certification and hope one day to further my education in the medical field. In 2019, I signed up to become a student at YWAM through their medical Discipleship Training School (DTS). YWAM stands for Youth with a Mission. They’re goal is to equip and send people passionate for Christ throughout the nations to make Him known. Every YWAM team that is sent out leads with the purpose of “meeting people’s real needs with the love of Jesus”. While training through YWAM, I spent three months diving into the Word, growing my faith with the Lord, and developing the tools spiritually as well as medically to help on a medical mission trip in Battambang, Cambodia for two months. My life was changed immensely through this experience, as it gave me a sharp and clear new perspective on life, a deeper gratitude for God, and a broadened appreciation for the power of faith to work in people’s lives in tangible ways. I am honored to have been asked to help lead the medical DTS this upcoming year. I am excited to encourage and push young adults to seek out God and His desire for their life through medical missions. Circuit Riders is a non-profit mission organization empowered by YWAM (Youth With A Mission).
