Hello Friends and Family,

I’m Samuel Bowman and will be serving on staff at YWAM Sendai in Japan for the next two years. I went on my first mission trip, to Haiti, in 2017 with my Church. This sparked a passion in me for further missionary work. I had the opportunity in 2022 to participate in a  Discipleship Training School with YWAM at their Singapore base. During those 6 months, I attended a school that taught me who I am in God, and how I can spread His love to others. We then spent two and a half months in Turkey and Poland applying what we learned in both relational ministry and spending time with, and loving refugees.

In 2024, through much prayer, advice, and a recommendation from a friend, I applied and was accepted to be a staff member at the YWAM base in Sendai, Japan. This past year I have been preparing by learning the Japanese alphabets, budget and logistics planning, saving money, building relationships with staff members, and lots of prayer.

At the Sendai base, along with working on learning the Japanese language, I will be pouring my time into the many ministries that they run. A few examples of these are partnering with local churches to feed the homeless, prayer and evangelism in Kokubuncho, Sendai’s entertainment and red-light district, building relationships with locals through sports and outdoor activities, and working in the Kokoro Kitchen, a small business established by the base serving Taiwanese food to build relationship with locals. I will also have opportunities to start new ministries as God leads. Another role I have is being a leader and mentor to students who go through the Discipleship Training School that is hosted in Sendai, which will include leading outreach groups within Japan and into other countries.

With all of this, I know I am not alone on this journey! I would love to ask for your partnership  both prayerfully and financially during my time in Japan, as I continue deepening my relationship with God and sharing His love with others . I have currently saved over half of my estimated expenses, and have a goal to raise $400 monthly in support, along with $3,000 in one time donations. This money will go towards housing, food, transportation, giving (tithes, offering, and generosity), and all other living expenses.
