Greetings, my name is Maddy Henderson and I’m excited to announce that I will be launching into Christian Global Missions, full time with the organization, Youth With A Mission in Perth, Australia.
If you didn’t know, I have always felt called by God to both Global Missions, and taking care of babies! To further my experience, and build upon my education, already serving as a Postpartum Nurse, I will be training at the Birth Attendant School in Fall, 2025. This opportunity will further equip me to serve women in developing nations, by helping them through their labor and delivery experience, all while sharing the gospel, and love of Christ.
According to the World Health Organization, “Every day in 2023, over 700 women died from preventable causes related to pregnancy and childbirth. A maternal death occurred almost every 2 minutes in that year. Just over 90% of all maternal deaths occurred in low- and lower-middle-income countries in that same year. Care by skilled health professionals before, during and after childbirth can save the lives of women and newborns.” https://www.who.int/news-room/fact-sheets/detail/maternal-mortality
The statistics show that women in low and lower-middle- income countries need a trained birth attendant, and I feel called to go serve those women, and fill that gap.
The past four years I have worked as a Postpartum Nurse and Breastfeeding Specialist. Training at the Birth Attendant School will equip me to continue to serve mothers and babies while also sowing the hope of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. I will share in the impact of two generations at a time, for the kingdom of God.
John 4:35-36 “You know the saying, ‘Four months between planting and harvest.’ But I say, wake up and look around. The fields are already ripe for harvest. The harvesters are paid good wages, and the fruit they harvest is people brought to eternal life. What joy awaits both the planter and the harvester alike!“

To attend this 9-month Birth Attendant School, I am needing to raise $20,000.
I have already spent $700 on the visa application and international health insurance.

Budgeting for $100 a week for spending and necessities (toiletries/ bus passes/ etc.)
