To current and future friends, family and associates:
Thank you for taking the time to read this message.
My name is Matthew Combs, I’m 27 years old and I have been a Christian since I was in the 5th grade. I went to Lees-McRae college and graduated in 2020. I founded Eagle’s Nest Forge LLC in 2024 and now God has led me to the next big chapter in my life after years of prayer.
I am excited to share that on March 16, 2026, I will be returning to YWAM Oita, Japan! This marks the beginning of my onboarding with Oita Base and my transition into serving there as a full-time missionary.
At Oita Base, I will continue assisting with the outreaches I was previously involved in, including:
• Teaching at Hinoki Academy
• Assisting with Glory Bubbles art outreach
• Partnering with local churches
• Building local outreach through blacksmithing and other art classes
For several years, I have known that God was calling me into mission work. It has taken time—and faith—for me to fully say yes to that calling. I have walked through seasons of depression, anxiety, and self-doubt, yet God has faithfully brought me through. I have no doubt that He is with me, and I attribute everything I have in this life to His great love and provision.
For many years, I prayed to find a mission where I could serve with my whole self—not just offering physical labor, but also using my education, skills, and creative passions to further the Kingdom of God.
The visa process requires that I raise $800 per month in committed support to begin the application. My mentors at Oita Base also recommend a goal of $1,600 per month to fully cover living expenses.
So far, I have raised approximately $1,400 in one-time donations, with about half of that already designated for equipment and supplies for the students at Hinoki Academy. I am asking that you would prayerfully consider partnering with me—any amount helps. If you prefer to give a one-time donation toward a specific outreach, please note that in the donation link.
Thank you so much for taking the time to read this and for considering how you might be involved. Your prayers, encouragement, and support mean more than I can express.
God bless you, and thank you again.
Matthew Combs
