Hi hi! I'm Makeila!

I am a full-time missionary based out of Brisbane, Australia and I am currently working with the Youth With A Mission or YWAM base there. In 2023 I went to Costa Rica for a missions trip with my youth group. When I was there I fell in LOVE with missions. The Lord gave me a very big heart for missions and to see His people saved. That year I had to finish my last year of high school and I had no idea where I was going next. The summer of 2024 I went to a youth camp with my youth group and I was asking the Lord to show me what He wanted me to do next. HE DID!!! One night He spoke so clearly to me "I want you to go to the nations!". In the fall of 2025 I joined YWAM Brisbane and I began my work in missions. I started in their discipleship program and I was part of a missions team that went to the Solomon Islands. Again, I fell in love with missions.

Youth With A Mission was founded in 1960 by Loren Cunningham with a focus on bringing young people into missions. Now it is one of the largest Christian missionary organizations in the world with over 18,000 staff worldwide. A global movement of Christians from different cultural backgrounds, age groups and denominations. Currently working in more that 1,100 locations in over 180 countries. YWAM Brisbane's vision is to be a powerful and transformational community of believers, to minister God’s love in the local community, rural & coastal Queensland and to the ends of the earth.  YWAM Brisbane is passionate about pioneering ministries all across the world.

My specific ministry will be staffing the Discipleship Training School (DTS). The DTS is designed to train and equip young people to be able to evangelize, serve, and go on outreaches. I will be meeting one-on-one with students, planning and organizing overseas outreaches, leading teams overseas on outreach, and spending a period of time serving in a logistical position on the YWAM base. I will be leading small groups, worship and intercession.

As a missionary I rely on the Lord for everything; leadership, community, encouragement, and even finances. I know that the Lord has moved in my life by the prayers of many. I am so encouraged by the faithfulness of the people who pray for me. I need believers to pray for me always. Pray for strength and wisdom always.

In YWAM, we are all responsible for our own funding. This means that I rely on the Lord's provision. I believe that the Lord can and DOES provide miraculously but I also believe that the Church body is a big way that the Lord provides.
