Life Update
Greetings from Charleston, South Carolina. I have now been here for almost three years and love calling this place my home. I have been working full time at a pastors retreat called the Retreat at Church Creek. It is a special place to work since we get to serve pastors so they can live well and finish strong. I am still a small group leader for my freshman boys who are about to finish up their school year. Definitely one of the best parts is pouring into my small group and doing life with them.
The Call
One Sunday morning, this Spring, the Lord put on my heart YWAM. I had no idea what the Lord was saying to me but when I went to church with my friend that morning, the pastor called up a missionary from Africa. The missionary gave his testimony about what God was doing with the people he was ministering to in Africa. I was so blown away by what he was saying and he encouraged us to get out of our comfort zone and go serve others. It felt like the missionary was speaking directly to me that morning. After the service, at lunch with my friends, I told them what the Lord had put on my heart that morning and how the message felt like a call to action for me.
The next few months I prayed to God to discern if this was what God had called me to do and I sought wise counsel from mentors in my life. The answer I got from God was - yes, go! So now I have decided to partner with YWAM, for this next exciting chapter in my life. YWAM stands for Youth With A Mission. Youth With A Mission is a global movement of Christians from many cultures, age groups and Christian traditions, dedicated to serving Jesus throughout the world. At YWAM we unite in a common purpose to know God and to make Him known to others. Through YWAM, I will attend a six month discipleship training program blending classroom learning, small group activities, personal reflection, practical service, and community living. The Discipleship Training School gives you an opportunity to discover your passions and your part in God’s purposes for the world. After three months of training, I will be sent by YWAM, as a missionary to a foreign country of their choosing, to spread the gospel of Jesus Christ!
Fundraising
To join YWAM I need to raise $10,000. I wonder if you would consider donating towards this amazing opportunity. My goal is to be fully funded by August 1st. This money covers all my expenses like housing and food. I’ve got a pretty wild 6 months ahead of me. Your support means a lot to me. Each prayer is heard and every dollar used for the Kingdom of God.
