My name is Kelly (26 yo) and in April of this year (2023) I joined Youth With A Mission - YWAM in Kona,HI to do a Discipleship Training School - DTS. The purpose of me doing a DTS was to be fully obedient to God as I felt in my heart I needed to be part of the Great Commission “Go into all the world and preach the Good News to all creation” (Mark 16:15).
On outreach of my DTS, I went to two different countries (Gambia & Guinea-BIssau). During this special experience, God gave me a heart for this place and people and He showed me that right now, it is such a special time for God over West Africa. I understood from God that I should not go back home, and stay in Africa and serve as a full-time volunteer missionary.
Right now I’m serving at the YWAM base in Guinea-Bissau working as a staff member on a DTS. I am walking with local young people, helping to equip them to go and preach the gospel to their own people and also outside of their country, breaking lies and hopeless thoughts that it’s not possible for them to do that.
Another work that we as YWAM Guinea-Bissau family are doing here is contributing to End Bible Poverty in the world, distributing the AudioBible on SDcards. So far, more than 30,000 Bibles were handed to the people in Guinea-Bissau in their tribal mother tongue to an unreached people into a muslin context.
As you may know, undertaking a missionary mission requires significant financial resources to cover various expenses, including travel, accommodation, food, and necessary supplies.
