Jordan Neumann and Krista Johnson were both born and raised in western Massachusetts.  They met at a high school graduation party and began a life of adventure together.  Before making the move to full-time missions work, their careers for over 20 years were in the National Parks where they worked from Florida to Alaska and in such places as Yosemite, Yellowstone, the Everglades, Katmai, and Denali.  A layover  returning from a trip to Vietnam proved to be the spark that ignited the desire to share the Good News of Jesus Christ with the people of Japan.

After a 3-day layover in Tokyo in December 2022, Jordan and Krista learned about the great need for the Gospel in Japan.  They felt a strong desire to return and started looking for short-term mission opportunities.  At the same time, they were also praying for God to open and close doors to lead them closer to His perfect will.  

In 2023, Jordan’s chronic back issues became significantly worse, up to the point of medical retirement from a career as a law enforcement park ranger.  At the same time, doors started to open in Japan when they met missionaries Jack and Megumi Adams.  They eventually traveled to Kagoshima and spent two weeks living alongside the Adams family and seeing how they served in their local community.  

Jordan and Krista will be working as full-time missionaries in Kagoshima and helping to spread the Gospel to the unreached and encouraging the small number of Christians in Japan. Their ministry will include working with first, second and third graders with an after school program and teaching English to Japanese students.

Japan's population is shrinking and the percentage of people who are considered elderly is rapidly increasing.  The country is also dealing with an increasing percentage of people who are intentionally isolating themselves from society. Jordan and Krista will be connecting with the those in need in the local area and reaching out to the lost and lonely, sharing the blessed hope that can only be found in Jesus.
