Jamie and Alisha Dewees, along with their four children, are full time missionaries in Hawaii with a Ministry they started called Pursuit Ministries.

When God initially asked them to go to Hawaii, it sounded a little scary. Traveling across the ocean and leaving behind their ministry, family, friends and church to go where they didn’t know anybody felt uncertain. But they obeyed God, asking Him to lead them exactly where they needed to be: which landed them in Hilo, Hawaii.

When God asked them to go on a scouting trip, they were both excited and nervous. God showed them parts of Hawaii that looked like a vacation dream, and they’d be lying if they said they didn’t start to feel really excited- but as soon their feet landed on the ground on the rainy east side of Big Island, the Holy Spirit met them and they saw the vision of Gods spirit permeating the area. They prayed for one full year, sold everything to afford to go,  packed their 4 children and 6 suitcases and set off on a missionary adventure. GOD SHOWED UP. The opportunities have been endless!

Their main ministry focus is evangelism and discipleship. At the University of Hawaii, Jamie has been able to establish a thriving Ministry. Some of the areas of ministry on campus include: Bible Study, Core Student Discipleship, Weekly Prayer & Worship and God blessed Jamie with the opportunity to be a spiritual mentor for the Athletic community.

Along with all the things God is doing on campus, Jamie is also actively ministering at their church in a number of areas including Guest Ministries, Next Steps Classes, Discipleship, Baptisms, Pastoral Care and preaching.

God has opened up many relationships for the Dewees family in other areas as well. Jamie has had multiple opportunities to be a Guest Speaker for several Pastors on island several times a year as well as teaching a Bible study at a local school every week. Alisha leads an outreach called ‘Gods Girls’ - a small group Bible Study for Moms and Teen Girls.

Their children are a part of all that they are doing and it is their joy to watch their children desire to serve in the local church, youth group and make the truth their own!

The Dewees Family find that the hardest part of the decision to be missionaries so far from home is the weight of having only each other for emotional and even physical support. It can be exhausting and feel lonely at times without any help. Please pray for them that God would meet all their needs including more financial security. They are hoping to raise $ 6,000 per month to be able to afford to fund their full time ministry.
