You know how you just vibe with some people? Well, research actually backs this idea. When you and someone else are “on the same wavelength” your brains are actually oscillating in synchrony with each other—you are literally, both on the same wavelength. This phenomenon happens when people are engaged in conversation, storytelling, or even listening to music together—and this is what happened when Mike, Cultivate’s founder, originally laid out his idea for Cultivate Network to me.
Cultivate Network is a mobilizing ministry, where people can encounter Jesus over the dinner table and grow in a small house church within a larger community of thriving house churches. Churches become families within 2 city blocks of each other allowing for micro-interactions that multiply into a real sense of connection.
Cultivate desires for the church to rediscover her roots as a spiritual family that, like the book of Acts, “meets daily from house to house”. And this vision of a church family couldn’t be more in line with my own views and way of life.
Being in each other's lives allows for deeper growth through proximity. But proximity also means being in each other's faces—in the best of ways. Cultivate doesn’t just want a church that presents an attractive life of connection to other people; we want to present reality to each other. The ups and downs, anger and support, depression and anxiety, and everything in between. I truly believe in the healing that comes through this way of life, centered around the One who brings all healing. And it’s my heart to see houses spread throughout my city of East Lansing, my state of Michigan and my country.
So, if it feels like you’re on the same wavelength as me, would you consider supporting me and this ministry? I believe in the supernatural power going before me, changing lives one meal at a time; so, will you help me fill my table?
With lots of love,
Celeste Uhl
