Aloha! My name is Alana, and I serve as a missionary with Youth With A Mission (YWAM) in New Zealand.

I grew up in Hawaiʻi as a missionary kid, and I knew from a young age that I wanted to serve God through missions. After graduating high school, I joined YWAM in 2022. I am now 22 years old, and I feel called to continue in missions for life.

Since joining YWAM, I have had opportunities to serve across Asia and the Pacific. Much of my ministry involves staffing Bible and discipleship schools, teaching about cross-cultural missions, and leading teams on short-term outreaches. I also love serving in my local community in New Zealand through a youth mobilization team, where we aim to provide opportunities for high schoolers to be part of the Great Commission. Cultural redemption is a big part of my ministry. This means seeing culture restored to God's original design and helping people recognize that their culture can be used to honor Him. Many people still feel they have to choose between their faith and their culture, which makes this ministry especially relevant in Oceania and the indigenous communities I serve.

Because of my love for culture, I love using cultural arts to teach and am very passionate about seeing the Bible translated into every language. I believe that when people have access to and understand the Bible, we can see redeemed and creative expressions of worship rise up from the nations. I believe this is key to seeing Heaven on Earth (Revelation 7:9). I desire to see the youth of the Pacific and Oceania become biblically grounded leaders in the mission field through their God-given culture.
