My name is Amira Rebbavarapu and I am on staff with YWAM (Youth With A Mission). I am currently a part of the ministry Counter Culture School of Apologetics, the only apologetics ministry in YWAM so far!!
We are a ministry that was pioneered 5 years ago in Kona by a word of the Lord to Jenn Wilson, specifically to equip people who have done the SBS (School of Biblical Studies). The SBS is a 9 month school that takes students through an inductive study of every book in the Bible. Through this intensive program, students read through the entirety of scripture 5 times while compiling nearly 2,000 hours of dedicated study to the word of God. So the School of Apologetics is a 3 month school that equips these Bible students to use their knowledge as fuel to communicate and defend the faith effectively. It is now in the process of being expanded to a year round ministry as well as the 3 month school!
I grew up in missions in South India, so I've actually been in ministry for all (except 5 years of) my life! Though I knew who Jesus was in my head I met Jesus powerfully in 2021. I was in a service repenting to God, when I heard the voice of the Holy Spirit and he spoke, “It’s time we move on from this topic of the things i’ve already cleansed you of, don’t you know that I am more than just a cleaner of sin, I am the God of JOY, PEACE, LOVE, MERCY, RIGHTEOUSNESS” and in a moment He broke every box I had put Him in all my life. After this I did a Discipleship Training School with YWAM, and went on a 3 month outreach to Cameroon and San Francisco. On this trip, the Lord taught me the honor of serving Him and in December 2021, I made the commitment to ministry. I asked the Lord “I know I don’t know what I’m signing up for, but I just want to be used by you, I want to be a part of what you are doing”. I now live my life to proclaim His excellencies in any capacity and to whoever that He asks me to (1 Peter 2:9).
I have committed two years to the Counterculture School of Apologetics, which will run 9 months out of the year.
What Will This Look Like?
• Speaking in the community
• Hosting Q&A’s
• Speaking in other YWAM schools and bases
• Discipling Bible students to communicate and defend the faith.
This position with YWAM is entirely volunteer, as all positions with YWAM are. I have been living 100% by faith the last two years now! Therefore I will be gathering a team of people to partner with me financially and prayerfully on a monthly basis. This covers my living and ministry expenses and allows me to be full time each week with the School of Apologetics and the ministry we are doing!
