Hey y’all!
My name is Alexandra “Alex” Ellis and I am a teacher turned missionary. Before I type another word, I must make this statement:
I NEVER THOUGHT I’D BE HERE.
Where is “here” you ask?
Here… is in the Third Ward (inner city) of Houston
at Nations House of Prayer
as a missionary
as a Children’s Director (Pastor).
A couple of months ago, I had to literally ask the Lord, “God, what are you doing?” I realize now, this journey is less about me knowing the answer to the question and more about me walking out the answer with Him.
You see, after He called me to finish my last year as a Special Education Teacher in July 2025, I had no real plan and no transition guide book. Just faith and boots. So, the steps began and - in what seemed like minutes - I walked right into a calling I had not REALLY perceived . . . to serve the Lord through the children’s ministry.
Godly counsel told me: YOU NEVER KNOW WHAT’S ON THE OTHER SIDE OF YOUR OBEDIENCE.
So, after giving a “yes” to the Lord, here you are reading a bio I never thought I would be writing! And that question arose again, “God, what are you doing?” It has become clear that God has called me into the unknown, to submit to HIS will and the work of the Kingdom with NATIONS House of Prayer.
NATIONS HOUSE OF PRAYER
The vein of this house is ministry to the Lord FIRST. In James 4:8, Jesus says “Draw near to me and I will draw near to you”. Thus, as we minister to the Lord through thankfulness, praise and worship first, He gives us His heart. As we look at Him through His Word first, He gives us His eyes to see others - the lost, the sick, the widow, the orphan, the poor, and the broken. Our hearts grow compassionate and we intercede (pray) and move to action on our neighbors’ behalf.
Ministry to Jesus FIRST, has drawn us into the rhythm of HIS heart:
GOING IN: Seeking Him and sitting with Him in prayer morning, noon and night
GOING OUT: Sharing the gospel with our neighbors in the inner city of Houston and those abroad in Haiti, Honduras and South Asia.
BUILDING COMMUNITY: As a hub for Nations School, we dive deeper into the Word and into the lives of one another in “Transformation Groups”.
FEEDING HIS SHEEP: On October 5th, we launched our church and souls are being fed the Word of truth! We also host a food drive monthly for our Third Ward community.
WELCOMING THE CHILDREN: In Matthew 19:14, the Lord says “Let the children come to me” and we did with a Back to School Bash! Over 100 kids showed up and joy filled the parking lot! In His House, we will soon be making way for 9,000 sq ft to be dedicated to children only. Oh but if only you could see the vision! God has called me to create a “table” for the kids to come in and learn who they are in Him, fill up on His love, joy and peace and be taught His promises. They will feast on His Word and be stirred up as Jesus followers and witnesses in the earth! We will be raising up the next generation of Judah praisers, Joshua’s and Caleb’s! We will be raising up voices that will declare “Prepare ye the way of the Lord”. They will be firestarters and waterwalkers, children of great faith and warriors of prayer and worship. They will be healed and go out and heal. We are not building a baby-sitting club, but a temple with Holy-spirit-filled children who won’t be afraid to shake the foundations of darkness and preach the good news EVERYWHERE! How honored I am to take part.
Fellow people! This is only a bite-sized peek into what God is doing; and make no mistake…HE IS AND WILL CONTINUE TO DO SO MUCH MORE. Thus, your partnership is NOT about me, it’s about partnering with the Lord to accomplish HIS will on earth. As you pour in your prayers and/or financial support, you are helping to keep this engine and its many parts at NATIONS functional and fired up for a committed work unto the Lord.
The result: Transformation WILL spring up all around us and kids, men, women, families, communities, cities, and nations will be turned upside down to the glory of God!
So, thank you for reading this page, praying, sharing or making a financial contribution. May whatever you decide to do, be as unto the Lord (Colossians 3:23-24).
With love and thankfulness,
